We have great seminars scheduled for May and June.
May 19th at 7PM in Hangar 1 a team of controllers from Chicago TRACON will be giving a presentation and addressing topics important to pilots that fly in and near Chicago airspace. The topics include:
- IFR practice approaches
- flying in and around the ORD Class B
- preferential routing and no over water routes
- VFR advisories (flight following)
- ORD overview of East/West Operations
- frequencies to expect for VFR advisories
- what pilots can do to help ATC
- what ATC can do to help pilots
- Midway (KMDW) 22L approaches and how it affects shore VFR flying
- VFR to IFR pick up in the air
This is a great opportunity to interface with the controllers face-to-face and ask questions you may have.
June 16th at 7PM in Hangar 1 we have a meteorologist from NOAA giving a presentation on forecast products and the new graphical Area Forecasts that will replace the current Area Forecast.
Seminars start at 7PM, are conducted at the Illinois Aviation Museum in Hangar 1 at Clow airport, and there is no cost.
Sept 30th through Oct 2nd, A & M Aviation and the IAM will host a high altitude chamber experience. This is a glass enclosure that gradually reduces oxygen representative of different altitudes to allow participants to experience what the onset of hypoxia symptoms are. There will also be an optional classroom session on high altitude flight. This experience will be provided by aeromedical experts from the FAA. There again is no cost, more information will be forthcoming in future newsletters.
One of the goals of A & M Aviation and the IAM seminars is to promote and improve safety in the aviation community. We are always seeking topics and guest speakers to accomplish this goal and welcome your feedback, please forward comments and suggestions to jmkotowski@wideopenwest.com.
