Club Events

We have a tradition of having a number of flying events each year. This allows you to stay current, make acquaintances with other club members, and find interesting places to go. Note that these are not restricted to club members. You are encouraged to bring family and friends with. Just remember to take the weight & balance into account!
Students, you may want to take one of these trips with your instructor in order to get some cross-country time. Or consider using these trips as an excuse to get instruction in a larger, faster aircraft!

Dinner Flyouts

Each month between March and October we all get together on the third Saturday to fly to dinner. This is a great opportunity to explore new airports, to get more cross-country time for a rating, and to enjoy the company of fellow pilots and their friends and family in a relaxed setting!

The UPDATED 2009 Season!  (Updated 3/15/09!)
We're going to make 2009 a great fly-out season! Contact the front desk to book a plane now for one (or all) of these wonderful Saturday evening get-togethers! We generally book planes from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM for the flyouts, and lift off somewhere around 5:00. We'll sometimes end the evening with a beautiful flight along the Chicago lakefront.  Let us know if you have suggestions for these flyouts!
  • March 21: Steakfire at Watertown (KRYV, 92NM NNW)
  • April 18: Final Approach at Sheboygan, WI (KSBM, 125NM N)  UPDATED
  • May 16: Rick's Cafe & Boatyard at Eagle Creek (Indianapolis) IN (KEYE, 140NM SE)
  • June 20: CJ's Restaurant at Bloomington, IL (KBMI, 81NM SSW) UPDATED
  • July 18: Edgewater at Fort Atkinson, WI (61C, 82NM NNW)

  • September 19: Rick's Cafe & Boatyard at Eagle Creek (Indianapolis) IN (KEYE, 140NM SE)
  • October 17: TBD
Note that the destination is never set in stone; if the weather or some other factor suggests another direction might be better on a given day, we're open to change!  In case of inclement weather here at home, we've been known to just gather at a local restaurant.  There are a lot of good ones around Clow now!

Destination Flyouts

Each year we also have a number of longer "destination" trips. These are perfect ways to get with an instructor to finish up that instrument rating. They also make great vacations! Start planning early, and get that plane (and instructor, if you're looking to turn it into a learning experience) booked!  Let the front desk know if you're interested in any of those so we can plan appropriately!
