Club Events

We have a tradition of having a number of flying events each year. This allows you to stay current, make acquaintances with other club members, and find interesting places to go. Note that these are not restricted to club members. You are encouraged to bring family and friends with. Just remember to take the weight & balance into account!
Students, you may want to take one of these trips with your instructor in order to get some cross-country time. Or consider using these trips as an excuse to get instruction in a larger, faster aircraft; perhaps a twin!

Dinner Flyouts

Each month between March and October we all get together on a Saturday to fly to dinner to a restaurant. This is a great opportunity to explore new airports, to get more cross-country time for a rating, and to enjoy the company of fellow pilots and their friends and family in a relaxed setting!

The 2008 Season!
We've got some winners for the 2008 fly-out season! Contact the front desk to book a plane now for one (or all) of these wonderful Saturday evening get-togethers! We generally book planes from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM for the flyouts, and lift off somewhere around 5:00. We'll sometimes end the evening with a beautiful flight along the Chicago lakefront.
  • March 15: Steakfire at Watertown (KRYV, 92NM NNW)
  • April 19: Shannon's Landing at Lansing, IL (KIGQ, 28NM E)
  • May 17: Steakfire at Watertown (KRYV, 92NM NNW)
The 210 and the 182 went up and some great steak was had by all. We arrived back at Clow just before the thunderstorm started kicking up!

  • June 21: Friar Tuck's at Oshkosh (KOSH, 139NM N)
We had three planes and about ten people at Friar Tuck's and had a great time! We had a chance to skirt some rain and see the dots painted on 18/36 in preparation for AirVenture 2008!
  • July 19: Final Approach at Sheboygan (KSBM, 125NM N)
  • August 16: Rick's Cafe & Boatyard at Eagle Creek (KEYE, 140NM SE)
  • October 18: Steakfire at Watertown (KRYV, 92NM NNW)

Let us know if you have suggestions for future flyouts! And note that the destination is not set in stone; if the weather or some other factor suggests another direction might be better on a given day, we're open to change!

Destination Flyouts

Each year we also have a number of longer "destination" trips. These are perfect ways to get with an instructor to finish up that instrument rating. They also make great vacations! Start planning early, and get that plane (and instructor, if you're looking to turn it into a learning experience) booked!
